Adding descriptions to your timesheet
In Clockk, adding descriptions is entirely optional—but it can be incredibly helpful.
Why add a description?
Descriptions help you remember what you worked on, at a glance. That makes it easier to explain your time to:
- Yourself (especially when reviewing your day or week),
- Your boss,
- Or your client.
They provide context that’s often hard to capture with project names alone.
Where can you add a description?
You have two options:
1. Project-level descriptions (for the day) ✅ Recommended
This gives you a quick way to summarize your work without a lot of effort.
2. Block-level descriptions (for a specific block of time)
Use this when a block is different from the rest of the day. For example:
You worked on the client website most of the day, but spent 2 hours updating their online catalogue—that block deserves its own description.
How to add a description
In the Activity View, under each project column, you’ll see:
- “Add Description 💬” at the bottom, or
- A shortened version like “Add 💬” or just “💬”, depending on your screen size.

Click that link and type in what you worked on.
When to write or review it
When you lock in your day, Clockk gives you a final chance to:
- Add any missing descriptions, or
- Review what you’ve already written.
This ensures your timesheet is clear and accurate before you generate reports or send invoices.
