Clockk or Memtime

Need an automatic time tracking software but can’t decide between Clockk and Memtime? We’ve got you!

Here are some reasons why account managers, project managers, freelancers, creatives, attorneys, consultants, accountants, and software developers choose Clockk over Memtime (and why you should too).

Design that helps you collect “free” money

Uncover activities worth thousands of dollars in unbilled and underbilled time.

Our primary purpose is to solve your billing problem. So is Memtime’s, but we do it better.

Memtime uses only a desktop app to collect data. While we use a browser extension in addition to our desktop application.

The browser extension collects data on applications and websites used exclusively within your browser, delivering more accurate reports.

It captures how often you visit websites and applications in the browser, how much time you spend there, the clients you work for on these applications, the subject lines of the emails you send, and the title of the files you work on.

Our browser extension allows us to show you little pockets of billable time that turn into huge chunks, which you’d have otherwise ignored.

When you add it to your timesheet, you create a more vivid picture of your workday, increase your billable time, and grow your revenue.

Time attribution that reflects your true workflow

Assign tasks to the right clients.

Memtime’s interface rounds up time when presenting your captured activities for the day.

If you were on a Zoom call for 38 minutes, but also worked on a Google Document for 15 minutes and took 6 minutes to reply to a Slack message, Memtime will chiefly display the Zoom call for that hour —because it took the most time— unless you zoom in.

This is great if you don't switch between projects and clients frequently.

But if you often switch between tasks for different projects in any given hour, it will make time attribution difficult.

Clockk's UI doesn’t do this. We present each captured activity as a separate entity in the Activity tab.

We track and report time in increments so you can accurately attribute each completed activity to the right client and project.

Smart capturing of “inactive” moments

When Memtime detects Away From Keyboard Time, it sends a pop-up message asking you to rename the timeblock titled “Offline Time”.

If you have to rename every period marked as “Offline Time” and give it constant attention, why then do you need an automatic time tracker?

We capture Away From Keyboard Time more efficiently:

We assign 3 to 10 minutes of inactivity after an active period to the last thing you did.

We do this for two reasons: the first is because we know that you need time to think as you work; the second is because we know that you’re in the spirit of a project even if you aren’t clicking any keys.

When you remain inactive for more than 10 minutes, Clockk automatically stops tracking.

Easy-to-use and well-thought-out interface

Clockk’s interface is functional, easy to use, and sleek.

We split the Activity tab into two: The Unassigned Tasks row on the left and the Assigned Tasks row on the right.

Filling your timesheet only requires a few clicks where you attribute items on the left to the right. You can also resize timeblocks for each client for a more accurate timesheet.

You fill out your timesheet within 5 minutes, this way.

Memtime’s UI is functional, but it isn’t as sleek. You need to zoom in on each timeblock to see specific tasks before assigning them.

Zooming in and out of each timeblock is time-consuming and may induce stress.

Accurate archival time tracking

Clockk is a reliable virtual assistant for your timesheets.

We know that referring to the timesheet for a particular day may be tedious. That's why we created The Timesheet Cheatsheet so that you can see your day at a glance.

The Timesheet Cheatsheet is a daily summary highlighting the activities you spent the most time on for each day, delivered straight to your inbox.

You can pull up this daily summary at any time to defend your invoice to a client.

Memtime doesn’t have this feature or a replica.

Get started with Clockk

I work with 10-15 clients at a time, and Clockk automatically tracks and assigns tasks to each client. I benchmarked Clockk against my existing workflow, and it finds me around an hour a day of billable time I forgot or underestimated. Given its low price point, there's not much I dislike. It's simple and does what I need.

I am now able to see exactly how much time I spend on each customer. My wife always said that I work too much, and I insisted it wasn’t that much (I thought about 6 effective hours per day). With Clockk, I noticed it’s more like 10 hours per day, including weekends. You know that feeling when, at the end of the day, you feel like you didn’t accomplish much because of all the little things you forget? Well, be ready for a (positive) change!

I've been able to track the websites and bill more accurately, which when working hourly is quite important. Not having to click the start/stop timer and getting all those little pockets of time recorded is huge. Not having to think about it since I have Clockk on my desktop and on all my Chrome (browser) profiles and having everything tracked is so awesome. -

I hate time-tracking, and I dread having to enter my time. But worse is the realization that I have no idea what I did when I forget or avoid logging time for days or weeks at a time. Using Clockk, I am able to reconstruct precisely what I did days, weeks, or months later. There is a slight learning curve to using the Clockk time tracker software. Once I understood how to use it, I was blown away. It was much more powerful than I originally thought. It is very intuitive once you are in the groove of using it.

Clockk is a game-changer when it comes to tracking and billing my time as a consultant. Clockk helps me figure out where I've spent my time, and automatically assigns it to client projects for me. Once it knows which Google ads account, report, spreadsheet, app, website, file, etc., should have its time tracked for each client, it takes care of the rest.

Their new Freshbooks integration is awesome! I no longer use start-stop timers, and don't have to worry about all the 5-minute bits of my day that otherwise wouldn't end up on my invoices.

Customer support is 100% awesome. Highly recommend!

I don't write down when I switch applications. I don't write down when I necessarily start work on any given day as a freelancer and when I stop. Having that memory, being able to live outside my brain is just incredible. I can tell a client how much time I've spent without having to stress about it myself and kick myself when I can't remember. So yeah, great tool. Perfect tool for that for me.”
